Tko se još boji članova u engleskom jeziku?

[This post has been copied entirely from the Speak Up blog here.]

Kako same riječi podrške nisu dovoljne, donosim kratak, ali moćan šalabahter za korištenje člana the.

TOP DESET (GRUPA) RIJEČI UZ KOJE STOJI ČLAN THE

1. The U.K./the United Kingdom, the U.S./the United States (tj. sve države čija su imena u množini ili koja sadrže riječi poput kingdomstates ili republic) (Napomena: Imajte na umu da se uz nazive ostalih država nekoristi član thethe America, the France)

2. The past, the present, the future

3. The first, the second, the third… (Ovo stoji u svim slučajevima kada koristite redne brojeve: I am going to Spain on the 11th; In the first place, he doesn’t even live here; The elevator just stopped at the third floor.)

4. The beginning, the end

5. The truth

6. The internet

7. The majority, the minority

8. The right way, the wrong way (Vrijedi za sve „načine“, primjerice: theCroatian way, the whatever specific way)

9. The 90s, the 18th century, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance (povijesna razdoblja)

10. The same, the opposite

Možete ih naučiti, to sam sigurna.
